Wolf 36-Inch Outdoor Grill (OG36)

Thirty-six inches is the second of the four Wolf outdoor widths, and one of the three a grill cart was built for. So a 36 turns up both ways here: dropped into a masonry island by a pool, and standing on its own wheels beside a back door. The parts inside are the same either way.

What is an OG36, and where is the plate?

It is the 36-inch body in Wolf's outdoor line, the second of the four widths and one of the three a Wolf grill cart was built to fit. OG means an outdoor grill body; the number is the nominal width in inches. The product rating plate carries the model and the serial, and both are worth photographing before you ring anybody, because they decide which parts travel. Read them out to Wolf Repair Service Los Angeles on (310) 928-9768.

What gets checked first on a 36-inch body?

The glow, then the gas, then the burners. A hot surface igniter should light up under the grates before the flame arrives, so whether it glows at all separates an electrical fault from a gas one in about four seconds. After that it is the supply valve, trapped air in the line, and the burners themselves, which Wolf says to inspect for insects and obstructions. Wolf Repair Service Los Angeles works it in that order on (310) 928-9768.

Is mine built into an island or sitting on a cart?

Either is possible with this width. Wolf makes grill carts to fit the 30, 36 and 42-inch bodies and the side burner, so a 36 can stand on its own wheels or drop into a masonry enclosure. A built-in installation in a combustible enclosure needs an insulating liner behind it. Which one you have changes the access and the gas connection, nothing else. Say which when you call Wolf Repair Service Los Angeles on (310) 928-9768.

On an OG36, who does what

You can do this

  • Photograph the rating plate and keep the picture on your phone.
  • Watch for the glow under the grates before you decide a burner has failed.
  • Keep the drip tray emptied and the grates brushed after every cook.

Leave this to a technician

  • Lifting a body out of an island enclosure, and anything behind its liner.
  • The gas connection, the manifold and every valve and orifice on it.
  • Hot surface igniters, the rotisserie circuit and the lighting inside the hood.

Anything on the right-hand list is a call, not a chore. Wolf Repair Service Los Angeles takes it on at (310) 928-9768; the $89 call-out is deducted from whatever the repair comes to.

Widths matter less than people expect once a grill is on the bench. A 30 and a 54 fail in the same places for the same reasons; the wider bodies simply have more of everything, and more burners means more ports to keep clear. What the width really decides is whether a cart was ever made for it, and how much of the island has to come apart to reach the back.
